The story overview
Four Letter Word is inspired by actual events from 1997. When the Chicago Tribune newspaper refused to include Ken Ryan’s spouse Mark when printing his mother’s death notice—a simple name in parentheses— a local, legal, and social conflict was sparked, examining the definition of ‘family’ and capturing the heart of one of the most controversial issues of our time—marriage equality.
Joining forces, filmmakers Arkanjel Productions, Imperative Pictures, and Covington International have come together to turn this story into a feature film.
